Save and open projects via iCloud

Using iCloud, you can keep your GarageBand projects up to date across devices. You can save GarageBand projects to iCloud as well as retrieve GarageBand projects from iCloud. You can also import GarageBand for iOS projects from iCloud.

Note: To use iCloud with GarageBand, you must sign in to your iCloud account and select Documents & Data in System Preferences. To import GarageBand for iOS projects, you also need to ensure that iCloud is turned on in GarageBand for iOS. More information is available online at the iCloud website or via iCloud Help.

Save a new project to iCloud

  1. Choose File > Save As.

  2. If you want to rename the project, select the name in the Save As field, then enter a new name.

  3. Choose iCloud from the Where pop-up menu.

  4. Click Save.

Move an existing project to iCloud

  1. Choose File > iCloud > Open iCloud Song.

  2. Click iCloud in the upper-left corner of the iCloud for GarageBand dialog.

  3. Drag a GarageBand project from the Finder into the iCloud for GarageBand dialog.

  4. Click Done.

Open an existing project from iCloud

  1. Do one of the following:

    • Choose File > Open, then choose iCloud.

    • Choose File > iCloud > Open iCloud Song.

  2. In the iCloud for GarageBand dialog, select the project you want to open.

  3. Click Open.

Import a GarageBand for iOS song

  1. Choose File > iCloud > Import GarageBand for iOS Song.

  2. In the Import GarageBand for iOS Song dialog, select the song you want to import.

  3. Click Import.
